Goal: To motivate the child to use words (or gestures) to request.
Instruction:
During snack time or play, hold up two desired items (e.g., a biscuit and a banana).
Ask: "Do you want biscuit or banana?" (Emphasize the bold words).
Wait. Do not give it until they point, reach, or make a sound for one.
As you give it, repeat the word: "Banana! You want banana."
Goal: Using easy sounds before difficult words.
Instruction:
Before expecting a child to say "Cow" or "Train," teach them the sounds. Sounds are easier to mimic.
Play with farm animals. Instead of "This is a cow," say "Mooooo! The cow goes Moooo."
Repeat the sound 5-10 times.
Pause and see if the child fills in the sound.
