Reduce Questions: Don't test the child ("What colour is this?", "What is that?"). It creates anxiety. Rule: Make 3 comments for every 1 question you ask.
Face-to-Face: Always get down to their physical level. You cannot teach speech standing up while they are on the floor.
Keep it Simple (The One-Up Rule): If your child says nothing, you use one word ("Ball"). If your child says one word ("Ball"), you use two words ("Red ball" or "Throw ball"). Always be just one step ahead.
